Use this checklist to make sure you have a hassle-free return to tennis!
BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME
- Make sure you feel 100% well, if in doubt, please don’t play
- Ensure you have court booked for the right time and that your opponent is included
- Use the toilet and wash your hands
- Pack water, towel, marked tennis balls and hand sanitiser
- Don’t forget your sunglasses and a hairband/clips if required
- Consider if you want to wear protective glasses and a mask, if so bring these too
ARRIVING AT TENNIS CLUB AND GOING ON COURT
- Park in clear spot leaving gap from other cars if possible (bike racks will be located on the mini courts for those cycling)
- Keep 2 metre distance from anyone leaving or arriving at the club
- Follow directions into the club
- Check in with the Compliance Supervisor
- Use hand sanitiser to clean hands, remember to keep your social distance
- Follow recommended route to booked court
- Each player should leave their gear at different ends of the court
- Start enjoying playing tennis immediately
PLAYING TENNIS ON COURT
- Remember to only serve and pick up your own set of tennis balls – see Paul Casey’s Court Etiquette tips here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi-GvCb1j9k
- If opponent’s balls are on your side of court use foot and racquet to hit ball back. Same applies to balls coming from adjacent courts
- Try to avoid touching your eyes and nose/mouth for whole match
- Change ends in a clockwise direction (opposite to each other)
- Finish promptly after 50 minutes
LEAVING COURT
- Pack all your gear into bag (We recommend putting racket in black rubbish bag and balls back in tin. Remember that anything left behind will have to be binned.)
- Leave court following recommended route keeping 2 meters from your opponent and players on other courts as you pass.
- Use the hand sanitiser at exit.
- Leave club grounds immediately
WHEN YOU GET HOME
- Wash your hands
- Disinfect your tennis balls
- Start planning your next match
